Ready, Set...Hut Hut!

Yeah for football season! Renner experienced his first AHS football game tonight. The weather was hot and sticky making for one sweaty little boy, but he had fun nevertheless. When we arrived at the game we walked up and sat by one of my co-workers, named Sandra. Thank the Lord for her because she helped out so much with getting me up and down the stands as well as keeping Renner entertained. During half-time we walked down to go see Daddy. Renner was so excited to see his Daddy in action. Daddy couldn't stay too long so Renner was then passed on to Daddy's co-worker, Caryn. Miss Caryn is definitely a favorite in Renner's eyes. Caryn took Renner and put him on the "gator" where he had too much fun acting like he was driving. We stayed until the 4th quarter when Renner really started rubbing his face on my shirt. We tried to make it until the game was over, but that just wasn't happening. Needless to say, Mike just texted me to tell me the game went into overtime and it's still going on and we left an hour ago! Once we did get home it took just a few minutes for Renner to fall asleep. That was one exhausted boy.
On another note. Renner turned 7 months old yesterday. I took him to the doctor's office this morning to get him weighed and measured. He now weighs 19 lbs 9 ozs and is 27 1/2 ins long. He definitely isn't hurting in the eating department. It's been a fun, long day but now it's time for Mommy to go to bed! Adios!

Just a little bit about this & that

This boy is something else! We are amazed daily by how quickly he changes. He is such a happy baby who is constantly smiling and laughing. Recently we had dinner at Renner's Mimi's house with his Mimi, aunts, uncles & cousin Jayden. Renner & Jayden had so much fun on top of their daddy's shoulders.

Renner's Granny has begun keeping Renner during the day as Mommy & Daddy have returned to work. He has so much fun exploring the house. We've pretty much cleared out the living room to where it's a huge open space for him to crawl and play with all of his toys. The first day I returned from work I found a collander on the floor. It's very true what they say about a child's favorite toys...they are the ones that don't cost anything. He loves how shiny and loud it is when he bangs on it.

Renner is getting so strong and really developing his core body strength. It seems like it was just over night that he was not only able to sit up on his own but also army crawl (quickly I must say) all over the living room.

Again, Renner loves to eat. He loves EVERYTHING! His Granny tried to give him peaches for a second try and that time he gobbled them up. Renner has tried and liked all the 1st foods and is now starting his 2nd foods. Last night he had a chicken noodle meal and sweet potatoes. Needless to say, he opened his mouth open wide for that new burst of flavor filling his mouth! I don't know if there is anything this boy won't eat. He even liked the prunes, which I hear many babies don't like.

I will leave you with a few cute pics that I took of Renner while he was playing in his bed. He's so content just laying in his bed, talking to the mobile and chewing on his toys.

Yes, Please!

So, Renner likes to eat. No, LOVES to eat! This eating thing is pretty fun and the highlight of our day. Renner didn't really care for the rice, oatmeal, barley or wheat cereals by themselves, but once we started adding the veggies, it was on. He doesn't really like being contained in the highchair so we improvised. His Mimi gave him, what we refer to as "the car", that he sits in and is able to move about in the kitchen. We feed him while he sits in it...well, more like stands in it. Mike & I were talking to one of my co-workers and her daughter, who has a 6 month old as well and she suggested that we try him on the sweet peas since he didn't really care for the bland cereal. Sure enough...she was right! He LOVES sweet peas. The first pic with the "Rock" bib was of him eating the peas. He also liked green beans. Then we moved onto carrots then sweet potatoes. I think of all the veggies, he liked the sweet potatoes the best. Which of course is Mommy's favorite veggie too! This afternoon I started his first fruit, peaches, and that didn't go over to well. He took a couple of bites and gave me this nasty look like "yucky Mommy!". So I ended up disguising it with some sweet potatoes that I had left.
We've also started giving him some baby juice, like apple, prune, etc. He drinks about 2 ozs a day of juice and fusses quite a bit when I take it away and he's not done drinking. He definitely voices his opinions loud and clear.
Next up is squash, applesauce, pears, bananas and prunes. I'll update later with how those go. Something new that Renner is truly enjoying with his Daddy is riding on his shoulders. It is the funniest thing the way he bobs up and down on Mike's shoulders when Mike runs around the house with him. I tried doing it for the first time today, but I think I'll leave that one to Daddy.
It's mid-August and we all know that means that Daddy is super busy with football season. So, Mommy is now having to give baths to Renner. Yep, Daddy has been the official bath giver (it's his special thing he does with his son) but now it's time for Mommy to step up to the plate, bite the bullet and bathe. A couple of nights ago I gave Renner a bath. It was the first bath I've given in a few months. Yes, that's right, in a few months. Well, he is much heavier and bigger than the last bath I gave. As I was bathing him he kept giving me this "What the heck are you doing?" and "You don't do it like Daddy" look. I know, I know...it had to be done. I was so stressed out and afraid he was going to slip out of my hands. It ended up being okay, he was clean and I was soaking wet, but it was all good. Tonight Mike's practices ended early, so secretly I was saying "Thank you God", I got out of giving tonight's bath!

6 Months Old

Wow! Where has the time gone? It is so hard to believe that Renner is already 6 months old.
Mike & I took Renner for his 6 month well baby visit on Tuesday, July 29th and Renner weighed 18 lbs. 6 ozs. and measured 27 ins. The doctor said his head, weight & length measured at the 75th percentile for his age group. So it looks like we sure may have another Erik on our hands! Maybe Renner will be a linebacker for Texas A&M WHOOP!
Along with turning 6 months old Renner has also developed his first cold. It's definitely been an experience that we haven't enjoyed. He's been all congested and not feeling well. Needless to say we've tried everything to help him out. The best things, other than the meds the doctor prescribed, have been purchasing a humidifier for his room and letting him sleep in his swing at night.
Renner is LOVING his jumper. He loves it and would stay in it all day if we would let him. We've recently moved it into the living room and sometimes we'll put his favorite tv show on and he'll stop bouncing long enough to watch it. It's a cute show about these 2 little squirrels named Sammy & Eve that play hide and seek with an acorn. You probably can't see it too well, but in the picture to the left you can see Sammy on TV & Renner mesmerized by the show. After a long morning of jumping he does get tuckered out and ready for a siesta!
Another thing Renner has almost mastered is sitting up. He can tripod himself with his hands in front of him and just about sit up all by himself.

The last thing I can think to write about is that he doesn't care too much for eating yet. We bought him some sweet peas and we think he may end up liking those. He didn't care too much for rice or barley cereal but seemed to be okay with oat cereal. We also bought him some baby juice and he didn't know what to think about that!
